keep swimming.

i went to the pool on wednesday.
the lifeguard was nice. i warned him in advance --
even though it may look like i am drowning at times,
that is just the way i look when i swim.
(did i mention i'm terrible?)
then i did a few laps.

when i stopped to catch my breath, lifeguard guy told me a story about a girl he met earlier this summer. she was planning to do a triathlon that weekend (running, biking and swimming)...and she told him that was her first time in the pool. he says he never saw her again after that day, but wonders how she did.

i'm not sure if that was supposed to be an inspiring story
or just something to fill the time.
i did a few more laps.

when i stopped again, the lifeguard walked past.
"keep swimming," he said.
so i did.

feeling slightly more inspired, i went back to the pool today.
i swam HALF A MILE.
it sounds pathetic when i think about it,
mostly since i can run that in about three and a half minutes.
but that's about all i can muster in the pool.
plus, i didn't die.

here's a picture i took of a shadow reflection when i got home:
here's a picture i apparently took (on accident)
when i was walking into my apartment:
and here's a shadow box thing that i want to get someday:
